What To Do If Disaster Strikes

If you are caught in a flooding house, don't panic. Most of the time, your furniture will be repairable, especially if you take the following steps:

1. Turn off all power. Do not attempt to salvage any furniture if the situation is dangerous.
2. Remove all furniture from the flooding carpet. Any prolonged contact with furniture, particularly timber furniture, has the potential to irreparably damage the carpet.
3. Try and "dam" pooling water with light coloured towels (to avoid colour transference). A lot of moisture can be soaked up, carried away and wrung out this way.
4. Call Nice n Clean immediately (we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and then call your insurance company. It is a good idea to write your insurer’s phone number down and keep it somewhere very handy, for example, near your telephone.

Please note - this advice is applicable in minor flooding situations only (ie, if your toilet is overflowing or a window has been left open in the rain, for example). In major flood situations, your safety is paramount
